One bath mat made with random scraps and quilted in a very random fashion.

 One t-shirt with a freezer paper bird stencil and fabric appliqued. I like how the print of the fabric still shows through the stencil. Gifted to a very gorgeous little girl.

 

I have ordered a pair of these little gems!! Cement - oh I LOVE cement!! The smell of cement is one of my favourite smells - up there with rain on a hot day and coffee!!!

.....now you have a very cheap t-shirt with a white flower!!

zippers galore

 Like I needed more zips!! But how could I resist at 10 cents each! So I bought 60! And asked the lady if she wanted to count them and she said "I trust you" - really I had 85 and only paid for 60! Of course NOT - this is honest Michelle here - I only had 60. Sometimes I wish I was like others and happy to really rip other people off!!!

The bundle of lace I bought the other week - not something I would normally buy but a bag full for $5.00 was too good to refuse!

 $2:00 Op Shop Skirt

 Sew on a gorgeous blue doily!

 Cheap Tank Top - add a bit of Flea Market Polyester Lace!!

 Another $2:00 Shirt - Add some green Geckos and some top stitching and some lace edging!! Just in case the person who threw the shirt out said to you one day (had you not refashioned it) - "I used to have a shirt just like that but i gave it to a charity shop!"

 You know those bloody oil stains that ruin your clothes and there is only so many gardening clothes you can have!!

 Now a top that can be worn out of the house!!

 I forgot to take a before shot. Picture a striped top with long sleeves - nothing special!! Now a bit special!!

Refashioning

I had a bit of fun on the weekend.

Is this all it takes????

Oh my goodness ...my life has changed and all because of one of these little things!!!

Sewing stretchy fabric has been made easy......no more puckering and awful stretched hems.....or no hems as in some of my previous projects!!!

So neat!!! .....and I don't really do neat!!

Above is a top for Zoe. Fabric was from a flea market where the woman selling her fabric was yelling "Cheap fabric, cheap fabric - have to sell it to save the marriage!!" - Of course I bought quite a bit from her.....I could very well be yelling the same in a few years!!

A bit of a cowl neck t-shirt for me.

I get so much joy from remnant bin creations!!

Stashing a stash

Back in July I flew to Townsville to see my dear sister and her lovely family. I only went for 2 nights so only took a carry on bag which still seemed quite full of my clothes.

As she was getting ready to move to China she was destashing her fabric stash. What joy!!! I didn't want to bring another bag home and have to pay for luggage so I squished, squashed and crammed lots of new to me fabric into the little bag!! I did buy a few pieces at this most gorgeous shop too.

I think there is nothing nicer than looking at other fabric stashes.

a) it means you are not alone in your obsession

b) I love hearing about where the pieces come from and what they were 'going' to be used for

c) I love the visual and tactile sensation of being surrounded with fabric

I still remember my Mum and two of her sisters laughing and chatting while going through my Mum's fabric stash on many an occasion. I think they all think of those times with fondness.

So these fabrics are now neatly folded members of my own fabric stash. Some of them might be passed on to someone else one day when I have a 'destashing' day.
